Problem
As regulatory requirements became more demanding, The Akola-Washim District Central Co-Operative Bank needed stronger control over privileged access, greater visibility into critical systems, and a more efficient approach to compliance.
Solution
By implementing Axidian Privilege, the bank centralized privileged access management, strengthened security controls, and simplified audit processes.
Result
As a result, audit preparation time was reduced by up to 40%, privileged activities became fully traceable, and compliance with RBI and NABARD requirements became easier to manage.

Background
The Akola-Washim District Central Co-Operative Bank Ltd. is one of India’s oldest cooperative banks, serving customers for more than 116 years. Operating through 107 branches and 5 extension counters across Maharashtra, the bank provides retail and corporate banking, agricultural financing, rural lending, and digital banking services.
Like many financial institutions in India, the bank operates in a highly regulated environment where protecting critical systems, controlling privileged access, and demonstrating compliance are essential parts of daily operations.
Challenge
As the bank expanded its digital services and regulatory expectations continued to evolve, managing privileged access became increasingly complex.
Security teams needed greater visibility into administrator activity across critical systems while ensuring that access to sensitive resources remained secure, controlled, and fully auditable.
Several operational challenges affected day-to-day security processes:
- Privileged access was managed across multiple systems without centralized control.
- User activity in critical systems was difficult to monitor and investigate.
- Audit preparation relied heavily on manual data collection and reporting.
- Remote access required stronger security controls and monitoring.
- Authentication mechanisms were not consistent across privileged accounts.
- Supporting RBI and NABARD compliance required significant manual effort.
The bank was looking for a solution that could improve visibility, strengthen access governance, and simplify compliance without increasing operational complexity.
Solution
To address these challenges, the bank implemented Axidian Privilege, a Privileged Access Management (PAM) solution that centralized the management of privileged accounts and administrative access.
The project focused on improving both security and operational efficiency.
Privileged access was brought under centralized control using approval-based workflows, ensuring that access requests followed consistent policies and authorization procedures.
Session monitoring and recording gave security teams complete visibility into privileged activities, allowing every administrative session to be reviewed through video recordings, logs, screenshots, and audit trails.
To strengthen authentication, the bank introduced built-in Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Single Sign-On (SSO), providing a more consistent and secure authentication experience for privileged users.
Secure remote access capabilities enabled administrators and third-party users to connect to critical systems through a monitored and controlled environment without exposing sensitive infrastructure.
Finally, built-in reporting, activity logging, and advanced search capabilities simplified compliance by making audit evidence faster to collect, review, and share with auditors.
The implementation was completed with minimal disruption to existing operations and without requiring extensive internal resources.
Impact
The implementation delivered measurable improvements across operations, security, and compliance.
Audit preparation became significantly faster and more predictable through centralized reporting and activity tracking.
Operational improvements
- Up to 40% reduction in audit preparation time
- Around 30% faster access approval and provisioning
- Reduced reliance on manual monitoring and administration
The project also improved visibility across critical systems, making it easier to monitor privileged activity and investigate incidents.
Visibility and control
- 100% visibility into privileged sessions through recording and audit trails
- Full traceability of user activity across critical systems
- Faster and more efficient incident investigations
The bank also strengthened its compliance posture and became better prepared for audits.
Compliance and audit readiness
- Alignment with RBI and NABARD cybersecurity requirements
- More structured and predictable audit processes
- Faster audit reporting through built-in reports and advanced filtering
Today, the bank benefits from greater control over privileged access, stronger visibility into critical systems, and a more efficient approach to security operations and compliance.
It enables monitoring and control of authorised user’s activities, session recording and auditing, multi-factor authentication (MFA) and secure remote access. The system also provides controlled command execution, Single Sign-On (SSO), and approval-based access for critical systems.
